Shuttleworth Premiere Air Show 2025

Shuttleworth Season Premiere Air Show 2025: A Soaring Start to the Season

The Shuttleworth Season Premiere Air Show on Sunday, 11 May 2025, launched the UK’s airshow calendar in superb style, blending vintage charm, rare aircraft, and aerial excellence at Old Warden Aerodrome in Bedfordshire.

A Celebration of Aviation History and Ingenuity

The day’s flying displays spanned decades of aviation, with highlights from both the Shuttleworth Collection and guest aircraft. One of the most captivating moments came from the elegant Fauvel AV.36 glider, which wowed the crowd with a graceful and unexpectedly dynamic aerobatic display—proof that quiet flight can still steal the show.

Other flying favourites included the beautifully restored de Havilland Chipmunk WP903, once flown by King Charles III during his RAF training, and appearances from the Westland Lynx AH7 ZX179 and the classic Hawker Fury I. The Global Stars aerobatic team added energy to the afternoon with precision flying that filled the sky with colour and smoke trails.

Classic Vehicles and Ground Attractions

Back on the ground, a parade of classic cars, motorcycles, and vintage agricultural vehicles added to the nostalgia, drawing admiration as they lined up along the crowdline. The Shuttleworth House and Swiss Garden offered peaceful exploration, while families enjoyed a fun fair, live music and hands-on STEM activities for younger visitors.

A First-Class Start to the Airshow Season

With excellent commentary, a well-paced flying programme, and an atmosphere that perfectly balances education, entertainment, and tradition, the 2025 Season Premiere Air Show was a strong opener for Shuttleworth’s summer. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or a first-time visitor, it set the bar high for the months ahead.
